Edward Sexton, suit maker for Annie Lennox and one of the most respected tailors in the UK has died at the age of 80.

Edward Sexton, a legendary designer in the world of menswear, has passed away after a remarkable career spanning seven decades. Hailing from Elephant & Castle, Sexton started making waves in the design room at a young age, eventually honing his skills at prestigious institutions like Savile Row’s Kilgour, French & Stanbury and Donaldson, Williams & Ward.

It was his partnership with Tommy Nutter that truly defined his legacy. Together, they disrupted traditional suitmaking, injecting radical silhouettes and vibrant colours into their designs. Sexton’s suits became a symbol of self-expression for men, attracting an impressive roster of clients, including Mick Jagger, Annie Lennox, and David Gray. His craftsmanship and attention to detail made him a beloved figure in the fashion industry, and his influence will continue to shape London’s menswear scene for years to come.

A few years ago the images here were posted on Edwards Facebook Page explaining how he had created both the suits Annie Lennox and David Gray wore in their video for “Full Steam” which you can see below. In March 2012, Annie Lennox spoke to The Times Luxx Magazine about working with Edward : “I loved working with a master craftsman like Edward. Watching him take his chalk, the way he looks at a suit and seeing the process infold first-hand was fascinating.
