Annie Lennox’s handwritten lyrics for Sweet Dreams raises over £21K to help provide medical aid in Gaza.

Annie Lennox's handwritten lyrics for Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) have been auctioned by Cinema for Gaza to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians raising a huge £21,000. The auction in total has raised over £260K.

The auction listing said

"Annie Lennox is one of the most iconic, legendary and inspiring voices Scotland has ever produced. Both with the Eurythmics and as a solo artist, her music continues to reverberate around the world and now she's putting pen to paper for the highest bidder by generously donating a note with handwritten lyrics of timeless hit "Sweet Dreams" embalzoned on it. Just dreamy."

This is an auction to support Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) organised by Cinema For Gaza. We are the film journalists, publicist and filmmakers Hannah Farr, Hanna Flint, Julia Jackman, Leila Latif, Sophie Monks Kaufman and Helen Simmons. Donations have flown in from a wide range of film talents from the UK and beyond. These include Tilda Swinton, Ramy Youssef, Peter Capaldi, Imelda Staunton, Brian Cox, Joseph Quinn, Mike Leigh, Misan Harriman, Joanna Hogg, Aimee Lou Wood and Josh O’Connor.

The auction opened on Tuesday 2nd April and closed on Friday 12th April.

MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. They provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system. They are currently responding to the emergency in Gaza.
