I was very happy to see the success of “DIVA” worldwide upon its release back in April and May of 1992.
For me, it was a validation to the general public of Annie’s songwriting abilities. In Eurythmics, all songs were written by both Dave and Annie, and the press generally loved to paint Dave out as the svengali while Annie was just the singer or the “face”.
But “DIVA” proved Annie’s songwriting chops and I think really made people look at her in a different way. It was also great to see Annie having hits again in the States – there really hadn’t been a big one here since “Put A Little Love In You Heart”. Viva La Diva!
