All the stupid papers
Over the last 2 years we have embarked on a project to scan and archive over 1000 magazine and newspaper articles. We published one a day until September this year.
The archives are now fully open, and you can view them by clicking here
A lot of people still think that Ghost was the first musical that Dave Stewart was heavily involved with, but rewind a few years and Dave Stewart was instrumental in bringing a stage version of Barbarella to the stage in Austria. Dave created a whole soundtrack for the musical, however it was only ever pressed onto 100 CD’s and given to sunbscribers of a magazine who had to enter a competition. It is one of those elusive items that has never been up fo sale on E-Bay or Discogs. As a treat today, here’s the title track from the show Barbarella Superstar, as well as the CD, and the whole programme for you to flick through.
We all love the Eurythmics version of Winter Wonderland, which has often topped the most played Christmas Song in the USA. In fact, Annie Lennox posted about it a few years ago :
In November 2008 the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced “Winter Wonderland” (written by Felix Bernard and Richard B. Smith in 1934) as the most-performed Christmas holiday song (based on radio airplay) and that the recording of it by Eurythmics was the “the most popular artist version played today” over the past 5 years. This year ASCAP have announced that “Winter Wonderland” performed by Eurythmics is the most performed holiday song of the whole decade! Click the title of this story to find out more.
“Winter Wonderland” is the oldest song in the top 25 and Eurythmics’ recording of it is included on the album “A Very Special Christmas” (red edition) which is becoming available each November again all over the world (Amazon Germany, USA, UK). “A Very Special Christmas” is a high class act album series for the benefit of the Special Olympics.
The track was recorded for the A Very Special Christmas Album which in turn raises money for the Special Olympics, which to date has generated over $130 million on income for the charity.
So apart from the song for you below, here’s a little rarity of the promotional T-Shirt used to advertise the first album featuring Eurythmics.

The Best Of You
An audio treasure for you today, on day 8 you may have heard Annie talking about working with Billy Mackenzie from The Associates.
Here is one of those tracks which is an unrelased demo called The Best Of You featuring Billy and Annie Lennox. The track was from The Associates album “Perhaps”where Edi Reader ultimately replaced Annie on the final released version.
Well its taken a while but we’ve been busy scanning in programmes from various Dave Stewart, Eurythmics and Tourists tours from over the years. The most recent additions are the Annie Lennox Solo 2004 & Dave Stewart Tower Of London Festical programmes from 2007.
Visit the Gigography here to view all the programmes from the main menu.
This is what you get when 2 artists who have colaborated with Dave Stewart end up working together themselves! Beautiful Hurt is Side A of a two song single featuring Chris Taylor and Nadirah X. Set to be released in late December of 2017.
Chris Spoke to Ultimate Eurythmics about the release:
I’ve been a long distance fan of Nadirah X for several years. I noticed her for the first time, when she started working with the Eurythmic’s Dave Stewart. Her song “Testimony” caught my attention with it’s perfect grooves and soulful lyrics. It felt like I discovered buried treasure! As the months went on, I started to follow her on social media and we shared a few back and forth exchanges. Recently, she called me out of the blue and we talked about life and music and keeping on with our creativity. Then we talked about creating something together, so I sent her two songs I was working on & she just brought the house down around this foundation I laid out. It was magical. Technology can be used in so many ways: to spread hate, love, or turn your social media into graffiti in bathroom stalls. I’m so fortunate to be able to use technology to work with artists from all over the world.
A few peeps have been recently talking about the interview on the Baktabak Picture Disc.
Well, here’s the interview in all it’s glory!
I hope this is another new photo for many of you! I just love everything about this photograph! Click it on a PC to see the full size version.
We have to feature these every year, as I am still amazed that some people discover them as new.

Annie Lennox provides sublte backing vocals on this rare track Tu Juventudon taken from the album Corroncho. Corroncho is a Spanish speaking album recorded by Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera and Colombian artist/sculptor, Lucho Brieva in London between 2003-2008. The idea came from a track called ‘Complicada’ written by Chrissie Hynde whilst collaborating with her on a Spanish version of that song.
Annie & Dave wish you a Merry Xmas from MTV
As we prepare to get the next phase of our discography launched, we thought you might like to see some of the newest entires in the discography, some real rarities here and 1 or 2 that I’ve added to my collection!
Well 25 days is over and another Advent Calendar draws to a close, thank you to everyone who has commented and sent private messages to me, all very much appreciated. Over the last 6 months our discography has been undergoing some major upgrades, a new database and gallery platform has been launched and is now 95% completed. Next year will see some exciting things happen for collectors, but more of that next year. Special thanks have to go out to Mike Wilson who has been my Wingman on this project and has spent hours upgrading the images in the discography. In the last 8 weeks, we have uploaded over 20,000 images all take from original scans.
For now, I would like to leave you with our new Dave Stewart Colaboration Discography, newly updated and with several new bands to add to next year, Dave surely has to be one of the most colaborated artists of all time. The discography features his work with over 110 artists (not including his own solo work and Eurythmics related works). Take a look and go and discover some new music!
Happy Xmas, and with that we’re signing off for a few days rest.
Visit Dave’s discography here and select collaborations from the menu.
Today’s little treat is from one of the rare occaisions that Dave and Annie performed their track Savage live.
This recording was from The Town & Country Club in London on the 8th June 1988 where Eurythmics performed a secret gig as a warm up for the Nelson Mandela concert at Wembley Stadium 3 days later.
This is one my favourite items in my collection, and is large to scale mark that Annie Lennox painted for The Princes Trust in 1996. As far as I know, there were only 1 of each item created at this size as they were auctioned via a catalogue that featured over 100 masks that had been created by other artists. Dave Stewart also contributed a mask, the scan of his 2 from the catalogue are below, who owns them, I’d love to know, wouldn’t you?
Something a little unusual for today, here is the original concept artwork drawing for the Love Is A Stranger 7″ Picture Disc
In September I was privileged to have been invited into the rehearsals at The Hospital Club for Dave Stewart’s 65th Birthday Show. I was able to spend some time with the musicians that had flown in from Nashville to play with Dave, and who have been on Dave’s last 3 solo albums.
If you missed it before, here’s the link to the interviews we did with Dan Dugmore, Chad Cromwell and Tom Bukovak here
Here’s Annie Lennox’s latest collaboration with Ralph McTell & The Crisis Choir raising funds for the homeless charity Crisis.

All proceeds go to Crisis and the work the charity does to help thousands of people on their journey out of homelessness every year.
Today’s treat is the original printed discography created by 2 fans Denis Garese & Claire Moisset in November 1990. Long before discogs and our own website, and before ebay really took hold we all had to rely on these printed discography’s to help us to build our collection. I’m not in touch with either Claire or Denis, I hope they won’t mind us publishing this today, its a great piece of history and a hell of a lot of work! The gallery was not found!
THE TOURISTS LIVE
Once again, we bring you something today that a few peeps have been talking about on various forums, this is the live recording The Tourists made for the BBC featuring 8 tracks. There is a bootleg recording in our discography from Japan, but we’re please to bring you the audio below. There is some confusion as the whether it was recorded in 1979 or 1980, but I am swaying towards the 1980 date, but let us know if you have any ideas.
Please drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you a link to download which we will only make available for a few days.
