SHEL is an American indie-folk band made up of four sisters—Sarah, Hannah, Eva and Liza Holbrook—from Fort Collins, Colorado. The group’s name is an acronym of their first initials, and their music blends folk, pop, classical and electronic elements with ethereal harmonies and cinematic arrangements. Raised in a musical household, the sisters began performing together as teenagers and released their self-titled debut album in 2012, followed by Just Crazy Enough in 2016.
SHEL’s sound is characterised by Eva’s lead vocals and mandolin, Hannah’s piano and percussion, Sarah’s violin and Liza’s drums. Their songs have been featured in television shows, commercials and film trailers, and they’ve toured extensively across the US and Europe. The band is known for its visually striking music videos and creative DIY approach to production and branding. Though currently on hiatus, the members continue to pursue individual projects, and SHEL remains a beloved name in modern folk-pop for its originality and sisterly synergy.
