Miss World was a short-lived British alternative rock band signed to Dave Stewart’s Anxious Records in the early 1990s. The group included Jimmy Taylor, Jonathan Perkins, Martin Chambers (of The Pretenders), and Peter Noone. Their sound combined post-punk energy with satirical lyrics and a theatrical edge. In 1992, they released the single The First Female Serial Killer, which received modest airplay and became a cult favourite among fans of Stewart’s label.
Though their commercial impact was limited, Miss World’s association with Anxious Records placed them among a roster of experimental and genre-defying acts. Their music reflected the label’s ethos of supporting artists who pushed boundaries and embraced eccentricity. The band’s brief existence left behind a handful of rare recordings that continue to intrigue collectors and fans of early ’90s British alt-rock.
