Lone Justice burst onto the Los Angeles scene in the early 1980s, fronted by the magnetic Maria McKee. Blending country, punk, and rock, their self-titled debut album was released in 1985 to strong acclaim, with contributions from Tom Petty and Mike Campbell. Although commercial success was limited, their sound helped pave the way for the Americana and alt-country movements. McKee’s vocal power and songwriting chops stood out, and her solo career saw chart success with tracks like “Show Me Heaven,” which hit No. 1 in the UK in 1990 and became a global hit following its inclusion in the Days of Thunder soundtrack.
