David Whitaker, born on January 6, 1931, in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, was an English composer, songwriter, arranger, and conductor whose career spanned several decades. He was renowned for his orchestral arrangements, collaborating with iconic artists such as Marianne Faithfull, Serge Gainsbourg, and The Rolling Stones. Whitaker’s ability to craft intricate and emotive arrangements made him a sought-after figure in the music industry.
Whitaker’s connection to Eurythmics came through his work on their 1999 album Peace. He contributed orchestral arrangements that added depth and richness to the duo’s sound, showcasing his talent for blending classical elements with contemporary music.
