Bernard Sumner

Bernard Sumner, born in 1956 in Manchester, is a founding member of New Order and a pivotal figure in the evolution of post-punk and electronic music. Initially the guitarist and keyboardist for Joy Division, Sumner transitioned to lead vocals after the tragic death of Ian Curtis in 1980, marking the birth of New Order. His innovative approach to blending rock with electronic elements defined the band’s sound, leading to iconic tracks like “Blue Monday.” Beyond New Order, Sumner co-founded the supergroup Electronic with Johnny Marr, further showcasing his versatility. Today, he continues to perform and record with New Order.
