Alex Silva (born 1970) is a British music producer and recording engineer whose career has been defined by innovation and collaboration across genres. He began his journey in London in 1995, working under the mentorship of Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. During this formative period, Alex contributed to projects with legendary artists such as Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Daryl Hall, Jon Bon Jovi, Marianne Faithfull, Shakespeare’s Sister, and Texas. His work with Dave Stewart not only honed his technical skills but also introduced him to the creative possibilities of music production.
In 1997, Alex embarked on an independent career, producing for a diverse range of artists including Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Herbert Grönemeyer, Nelly Furtado, Zero Assoluto, Katherine Jenkins, Lunik, and Brainstorm. His ability to adapt to different musical styles and bring out the best in each artist earned him widespread acclaim. Notably, his collaboration with Herbert Grönemeyer resulted in multiple platinum-selling albums, solidifying his reputation as a producer of exceptional talent.
Alex’s work extends beyond music into film and theatre, where he has collaborated with renowned directors such as Anton Corbijn, Peter Greenaway, Ted Demme, Paul Verhoeven, and Robert Wilson. His contributions to these projects demonstrate his versatility and ability to create compelling soundscapes that enhance visual storytelling.
In 2003, Alex was honoured with an Echo Award for Best Producer, recognising his outstanding contributions to the music industry. Since 2008, he has been based in Berlin, where he continues to innovate and collaborate with artists and filmmakers.
