Lyrics for Flickering Lights

LYRICS FOR Flickering Lights

Walked into Kings Cross station
Took a train way up North
It had been a while
266 miles always seemed a long way off
But I’d been in touch but not that much
Just a quick hello on the phone
But I’d soon arrive on the 6.05
To see the flickering lights of home

We walked along the oceans edge
A father and his son
Nothings changed, it all looks the same
After everything we’ve done
Well a lifetime is really no time
If you spend it all alone
But I could see walking from the green
Towards the flickering lights of home

So I went to the costume maker
I said cut me some cloth of gold
Make me a suit wrapped up in history
To protect me from the cold
So when I walk on stage
The lions cage
With this troubadours last poem

All I see in front of me
Are the flickering lights of home
So all I see right in front of me
Are the flickering lights of home
