The only officially released single from D.U.P. (Da Universal Playaz) was “FreedomÂ’s Coming”, a vibrant track that captured the bandÂ’s fusion of funk, reggae, and soul. Featuring vocals from Jimmy Cliff and saxophone flourishes by Candy Dulfer, the single was issued in the early 2000s and served as a musical statement of unity and liberation. It was released digitally and promoted through DaveÂ’s Artist Network label, but thereÂ’s no confirmed evidence of a commercial physical pressing. For collectors, it remains a rare gem—representing the bandÂ’s brief but spirited existence and DaveÂ’s commitment to genre-blending collaborations which we saw again with his band Superheavy.

This version of “Freedom’s Coming” was released under the DUP (Da Universal Playaz) name, with Dave’s involvement as producer and co-writer. The track features a more urban and reggae-infused arrangement compared to the Mudbone version. Promo editions include a UK CD-R and a DVD promo, both issued in very small numbers and often with handwritten or stickered labels. These items are rarely seen and are of interest to collectors of Dave’s socially conscious and genre-blending projects. The DUP version adds a different sonic perspective to the same core message of liberation and unity.
