Happy Birthday Classic Pop! Eurythmics Revenge Album gets a special feature in the new 1986 Classic Pop special, and Sweet Dreams gets featured in the 100 Anniversary issue of Classic Pop – Both Out Now
Classic Pop magazine has reached an incredible milestone with its 100th issue, and we want to say a huge congratulations. Since its launch, Classic Pop has been a champion of the music that shaped generations, bringing fans closer to the stories behind the songs. Over the years, they’ve featured Eurythmics in no fewer than 38 issues, not counting the specials, which speaks volumes about their commitment to celebrating one of the most influential duos of the 80s.
One of the standout moments was the two-cover special a few years ago, which gave fans a deep dive into the band’s history and artistry. More recently, Classic Pop dedicated a full feature to Revenge in their 1986 special. Written by Mark Lindores, the piece explored how the album marked a bold shift for Eurythmics. It highlighted the duo’s move towards a stadium-ready rock sound, driven by success and ambition, while still retaining their knack for experimentation. The article also revisited iconic tracks like Missionary Man and Thorn in My Side, showing how Annie and Dave embraced a bigger, more powerful style without losing their creative edge.
And now, in the 100th issue, Eurythmics appear once again in the magazine’s list of the Top 100 Albums of the 80s. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) takes the No. 71 spot, a testament to its enduring influence and the way it continues to inspire new generations of listeners.
On a personal note, I was proud to be featured as a Eurythmics super fan in one of Classic Pop’s previous issues, which made the connection even more special. Thank you, Classic Pop, for helping to keep the Eurythmics legacy alive and for giving fans like me a place to celebrate the music we love. Here’s to the next 100 issues!
