Annie Lennox’s Oscar-Winning Song “Into The West” Returns on Vinyl with The Lord of the Rings Soundtrack Reissue

Annie Lennox fans will be delighted to hear that Into the West, her Academy Award®-winning song from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, is being reissued on vinyl as part of a new release of the film’s iconic soundtrack.

Composed by Howard Shore and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the music for The Return of the King helped the film secure two Academy Awards® for Best Original Score and Best Original Song. Annie’s haunting performance of Into the West also earned a Golden Globe® and a GRAMMY® Award, cementing its place as one of the most celebrated songs in cinematic history.

Following the sell-out success of the 6LP box set earlier this year, the soundtrack is now available as a standalone 2LP edition, pressed on 180-gram Black vinyl or limited edition Palantir Clear vinyl. The release is due on 3 October and will be available at participating retailers.

The album features 17 tracks across four sides, including Annie’s Into the West as the closing piece. Other highlights include Minas Tirith, The Ride of the Rohirrim, and The End of All Things, with guest performances from Renée Fleming, Sir James Galway, and Billy Boyd.

This reissue is part of a wider celebration of the trilogy’s music, which has sold over 7 million albums worldwide and remains one of the most ambitious and beloved film scores ever composed.
