Annie Lennox & Katharine Hamnett Launch ‘Let Gaza Live’ T-Shirt to Support Orphans in Gaza
Annie Lennox has joined forces with pioneering fashion designer Katharine Hamnett to create a powerful new slogan t-shirt. The design reads LET GAZA LIVE and aims to raise urgent funds for child orphans in Gaza. All proceeds will go to the Noor Gaza Orphan Care Program by Taawon, a non-profit organisation supporting over 20,000 children affected by the ongoing conflict.
The collaboration was developed in partnership with London-based art organisation A/POLITICAL. The campaign highlights the systematic removal of basic human rights from the people of Gaza, and calls for an immediate ceasefire, access to humanitarian aid, and justice for Palestine.
This initiative forms part of the wider END GENOCIDE project. Other high-profile collaborations include American-Palestinian lawyer and activist Lina Hadid, whose t-shirt reads STOP KILLING CHILDREN, and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, whose design features the slogan WELFARE NOT WARFARE. These t-shirts have already been worn at protests around the world and have gained support from figures such as Khalid Abdalla, Camille Charrière, Julia Sawalha and Alana Hadid.
Hamnett is no stranger to political fashion. Her Choose Life t-shirt, famously worn by Wham! in 1984, became a global symbol. More recently, her Choose Love designs have raised millions for refugee support. Last year, she made headlines again by discarding her CBE in protest against Britain’s role in the Gaza crisis.
“I’m honoured to work with the legendary Annie Lennox on the t-shirt LET GAZA LIVE,” said Hamnett. “People must write to their elected representatives and demand a permanent ceasefire, an end to arms sales and military support for Israel. Silence is complicity. If we don’t speak out about Gaza, we’ve chosen the side of oppression.”
Lennox added, “Gaza’s population has been under siege for almost two years. Over 90 per cent of people have been forcibly displaced, many times over. Babies and children are dying of forced starvation. The situation is catastrophic. We say, for God’s sake, ceasefire. Bring the aid in, and let Gaza live.”
The t-shirts are available in a range of colours and sizes for men, women, children and babies. Made from certified organic cotton and printed to order, prices range from £15 to £30. Every penny goes directly to the Noor Gaza Orphan Care Program.
