In our community, we celebrate the music, legacy, and artistry of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. We share rare records, tour memories, and collector finds, share new videos and celebrate when we see them both perform. But today, we pause.

Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, Annie Lennox has stood with Artists4Ceasefire, raising her voice for peace and the protection of innocent lives. At the 2024 Grammy Awards, she declared: “Artists for cease-fire! Peace in the world!”—a moment that echoed around the globe. Dave has also spoken out, sharing the heartbreak and horror of what’s unfolding in Gaza.

In recent weeks, Dave Stewart has used his social media platforms to amplify the voices of those documenting the crisis on the ground. By sharing content from journalists and civilians in Gaza, he is helping to shine a light on the human cost of this war—stories that are often underrepresented in mainstream media. His posts reflect a deep empathy and a desire to ensure the real story is seen and heard.

As fans, we are inspired not only by their music but by their humanity. And right now, that humanity calls us to acknowledge the suffering of children, families, and communities facing starvation, displacement, and death.

This is not about politics. It’s about compassion. About recognising that while we discuss the latest vinyl pressing or book signing, children are dying from hunger. That’s not something we can ignore.

Here are just a few facts that are impossible to look away from:

  • Over 85,000 tonnes of bombs have been dropped on Gaza since October 2023—more than were dropped on Dresden, Hamburg, and London combined during World War II.
  • More than 50,000 children have been killed or injured since the war began.
  • An average of 28 children are killed every day—the equivalent of an entire classroom lost daily.
  • 232 journalists have been killed—more than in both World Wars, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan combined.

These are not just numbers. These are lives. These are futures lost. And they are the reason we are breaking our usual silence. Already the optimistic estimates are it will take over 80 years to rebuild Gaza, this cannot be right.

We remain a safe space for all. But silence, in the face of such suffering, is not neutrality—it’s complicity. So today, we stand with Annie and Dave. We stand for peace. We stand for life.

Final Words

We know this post may feel different. But music has always been a force for change. Annie and Dave have never shied away from using their voices for justice. Today, we follow their lead—not to divide, but to unite in compassion.
