Jack & Daisy’s New EP “Barcelona (From The Rear View)” Finds Its Soul with Dave Stewart’s Sensitive Production
British indie-folk duo Jack & Daisy have released their debut EP, Barcelona (In The Rear View), and it’s already capturing attention for all the right reasons. The four-track release is rich with emotional depth, acoustic textures, and lyrical honesty — all produced by Dave, the music legend behind Bay Street Records. The pair spent several years living and performing along Spain’s eastern coast, particularly in the town of Jávea, where their sound matured in intimate venues and sunlit plazas. That connection to Spain is woven into the EP’s title track, which reflects on their decision to leave for New York in pursuit of their musical dreams. The official video for Barcelona (In The Rear View) was filmed in Spain by Sam Davies and Alejandro Gil, capturing the bittersweet beauty of departure with cinematic flair.
The duo are proudly signed to Dave Stewart's label Bay Street Records, and their music reflects the kind of intimate, crafted folk Dave is known for supporting.
What’s on the EP
- Barcelona (In The Rear View): A melancholic anthem about leaving Spain behind. Co-written with Dave, it blends heartfelt reflections with layered harmonies.
- Life Go Easier On Me: Also co-written with Dave, this track leans into optimism. It’s an uplifting and melodic piece that highlights the duo’s harmony-driven sound.
- Another Day: A gentle ballad centered on longing, homesickness, and separation. Daisy’s vocal delivery is soft, understated, and moving.
- The Times They Are A-Changin’: A reinterpretation of the Bob Dylan classic that feels both reverent and contemporary. The pair manage to honour the original while giving it a subtle folk-pop glow.
All four tracks were produced by Dave, who also performs on two. His contribution doesn’t overshadow; instead, it elevates, reinforcing the duo’s raw sincerity with seasoned finesse.
Available on SongBits + Limited Edition CD
The EP is available now on main streaming platforms, but also on SongBits — a platform co-owned by Dave Stewart that gives fans a chance to actually own a piece of the music. There are exclusive offerings like a limited-edition CD single, signed memorabilia, and access to rare content.
Behind the Songs
In a recent interview with DJ Dan, Jack & Daisy opened up about the writing process. They described working with Dave as a guiding force who “knew exactly what we were aiming for” and “helped us frame our sound with honesty and heart.”
The songs draw heavily from personal experiences, many of them written in Spain as the duo considered a move to New York. Each track feels lived-in and relatable, the kind of songwriting that resonates beyond borders.
Barcelona (In The Rear View) is more than a debut. It’s a travelogue, a diary, and a tribute to the power of collaboration. And with Dave in their corner, Jack & Daisy are only just getting started.
