Dave Stewart, the legendary musician and co-founder of Eurythmics, is set to release a new album titled Dave Does Dylan on 12th April for Record Store Day. This album, released under Surfdog Records, is a tribute to the iconic Bob Dylan and features Dave’s unique interpretations of Dylan’s timeless songs.

One of the standout tracks on the album is Dave’s rendition of “Make You Feel My Love.” Originally written and performed by Bob Dylan, this song has been covered by numerous artists over the years, each bringing their own flavour to its heartfelt lyrics. Dylan’s version, which appeared on his 1997 album Time Out of Mind, is a poignant ballad that speaks to the depths of love and devotion. The lyrics convey a promise of unwavering support and affection, even in the face of life’s challenges:

“When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.”

Dave’s interpretation of the song is both intimate and powerful, capturing the essence of Dylan’s original while adding his own soulful touch. His performance is characterised by a raw, unedited quality, recorded in a single take to preserve the authenticity and emotion of the moment.

Interestingly, Dave Does Dylan was not initially intended to be an album. Dave had been casually singing Dylan songs between concerts and during studio sessions. It was the encouragement of friends and colleagues who heard these impromptu performances that led to the creation of the album. They suggested that Dave should compile these renditions into a full album, and thus, Dave Does Dylan was born.

For fans eager to experience these songs live, there is an exciting opportunity on the horizon. Join Dave for an exclusive episode of “Recorded Live at Analog” in Nashville on 22nd March, where Dave will perform selections from Dave Does Dylan. This special concert will feature the addition of strings, pedal steel guitar, and keys, adding a rich, layered sound to Dave’s acoustic performances. Tickets for this intimate event are still available, so don’t miss your chance to see a musical legend bring Dylan’s songs to life in a unique and unforgettable way.
