Dave Stewart features on U2’s Record Store Day Black Friday’s exclusive vinyl release for their album How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb
To mark the 20th anniversary of U2’s critically-acclaimed eight-time Grammy-winning album How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, Island Records and UMR today announce the release of a shadow album titled How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb, which includes new, unreleased songs discovered in the archive of the original album recording sessions. Set for a standalone release on 29th November 2024 for RSD Black Friday on a red and black marble vinyl edition.
The Edge said of How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb – “The sessions for ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ were such a creative period for the band, we were exploring so many song ideas in the studio. We were inspired to revisit our early music influences, and it was a time of deep personal introspection for Bono who was attempting to process - dismantle - the death of his father.
The album features a track called Treason which was co-written with Dave Stewart, and is mentioned in Dave's Songbook book :
"That evening we went to visit Dr. Dre at his studio in the Valley and an amazing new song got started that at the time was called “Treason.” We ended up recording it with the Gateway Ambassador singers, a group of young musicians from Ghana. Those talented kids were all orphans and about to go on the road with Bono for the Heartland of America Tour, generating support in the fight against AIDS."
