Utah Saints album is the only Eurythmics connection for National Album Day this year with What Can You Do For Me featuring There Must Be An Angel
In celebration of National Album Day in the UK, pioneering electronic music duo Utah Saints are set to reissue their iconic debut album on Saturday, October 19, 2024. This album stands out as this year’s sole connection to the legendary Eurythmics, making it a unique highlight for fans.
First released in May 1993, the self-titled debut from Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt, better known as Utah Saints, is renowned for its innovative use of samples from popular pop and rock tracks. Prominent among these is the track "What Can You Do For Me," which features a distinctive sample from the Eurythmics' hit "There Must Be An Angel." This audacious mix helped propel the album to #10 on the UK charts and gain traction in the US, where it became a staple on MTV’s 120 Minutes.
The upcoming reissue will be expanded into a double CD and 2xLP vinyl edition, enriched with remixes by acclaimed artists such as David Morales, CJ Bolland, and Andy Weatherall.
Renowned as one of the first stadium acts in live dance music, Utah Saints continue to perform actively. They have scheduled appearances at events such as All Back to Minehead with Fatboy Slim on November 9, Shine On Weekender on November 16, and Love Unit 13 Nottingham on November 30.
This year’s National Album Day, now in its seventh edition, highlights the theme “Great British Groups” in collaboration with BBC Radio 2. The Utah Saints’ release is perfectly timed to celebrate the enduring appeal and cultural impact of the album format in today's digital era.
The reissued album will be available from October 19, 2024.
