Dave Stewart to help The Bunker in Sunderland raise much needed funds for their roof by auctioning off a rare Spider Man guitar gifted to him by Laura Ziskin

Dave Stewart, the legendary guitarist from Eurythmics and The Tourists, is offering up a unique Spider-Man-themed Gibson guitar for auction. This extraordinary instrument was gifted to Dave by American film producer Laura Ziskin.

The auction aims to raise funds for The Bunker, a vital music venue in Sunderland, which has been a creative hub since it opened in 1982. Known for hosting iconic acts like Björk, Billy Bragg, and The Clash, The Bunker now faces the challenge of a leaky roof threatening its future. The much-needed repairs are expected to cost £30,000.

Dave Stewart expressed his desire to aid The Bunker, emphasising its importance as a meeting and rehearsal space amidst Sunderland's burgeoning music scene. He stated, "There are different people doing different things, and I thought, well, I'll put this rare guitar up for auction and the money will go to The Bunker."

Kenny Sanger, The Bunker's Director, highlighted the venue's significance, saying, "We are the longest-running community project of its kind in the country, so it's important for the city to be proud of it and for it to be here for everybody."
