Today, we mourn the loss of a musical icon. Sinead O’Connor’s powerful voice and fearless spirit revolutionised the music industry. Her courageous honesty and soul-stirring lyrics will forever be remembered and celebrated.

Dave Stewart worked with Sinead several times, from photographing her several times with some really stunning images capturing her fragility, and currently on sale at The Morrison Hotel Gallery to recording music with her, and having great fun where Sinead appeared with Dave Stewart on UK TV Show, TFI Friday, where she was a backing singer for Dave along with Kylie Minogue and Natalie Imbruglia. The 4 played Happy To Be Here and Sweet Dreams live in the studio. The 3 ladies were cast as a tramp, a drunk and an unfit mother,

Dave Stewart also recorded with Sinead, in particular a song called Jealous. This song is featured in Dave Stewart’s book “The Dave Stewart Songbook” where he describes Sinead as a pure soul and full of love for the real things in life. The track was recorded at The Church with her ex-husband John Reynolds on drums and the legendary Jah Wobble on bass. Dave says that he filmed her singing “I Don’t Deserve To Be Lonely” in the most haunting way, and as I looked at her through the eyepiece of the camera, one step removed, I agreed whole-heartedly with her that she does not. Every time I recorded her voice I got goosebumps.

Here a few photos, all taken by Dave Stewart and videos of Jealous and her performance on TFI Friday. Lete’s celebrate and remember the mighty musical talent that was Sinead O’Connor. RIP
