This collection is visually linked by the ‘circle within a square’ theme, which represents a vinyl record in its sleeve. Sketches of each artist are combined with maps, text and graphics, which tell the story of each track.

Louis says “I named this collection after one of my favourite singles of the 1980’s – “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics. I loved the electronic sound, the lyrics and the surreal imagery of the video.”

Louis has described his picture below

“Sweet Dreams” was the breakthrough synth-pop hit for new wave group Eurythmics, which reached No2 on the UK charts in March 1983 and No1 in the USA and became one of the most iconic hits of the 1980’s.

The artwork features Annie Lennox as she appeared in the groundbreaking video for the track, with orange cropped hair, wearing a man’s business suit and tie. The background features a map of the globe representing the lyrics “I travel the world and the seven seas” as well as the fact that it became an international hit. The background also features a map of North London which was where the hit was recorded in a small home studio in Chalk Farm using a “Movement Systems” drum machine which was cutting edge technology at the time and is featured in the foreground of the artwork.

The duo were at a real low point in their lives when they wrote the hit, but the success of “Sweet Dreams” changed their lives forever as they became global pop icons.

Just recently in 2023, the track was awarded the accolade of being added to the United States Recording Registry at the Library of Congress, because of its historical, cultural and aesthetic importance to the heritage of the nation.”
