The Other Songs Live event at the London Palladium was a one-of-a-kind celebration of songwriters, featuring incredible performances and raising £65,000 for music charities. Hosted by Al Webber of Other Songs and presented in partnership with The Ivors Academy, the event aimed to support talented young songwriters and artists regardless of their background.

The star-studded lineup of performers included renowned songwriters such as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Guy Garvey, Shaznay Lewis from All Saints, Dave Stewart from Eurythmics, Dot Major from London Grammar, Richard Kerr, Jimmy Napes, Fraser T Smith, Pam Sheyne, Ruth Anne Cunningham, and AR Rahman, the composer of Slumdog Millionaire.

One of the highlights of the evening was Dave Stewart’s performance. As the co-writer of Eurythmics’ iconic song ‘Sweet Dreams’, he took the audience on a journey, reconstructing the timeless hit and showcasing how it was made alongside Annie Lennox. The performance was a true testament to Stewart’s musical genius and the enduring power of the song.

Other notable performances included Rick Nowels delivering mind-blowing renditions of songs like ‘White Flag’ and ‘Summertime Sadness’. A.R. Rahman, the acclaimed composer of Slumdog Millionaire, flew in from Mumbai to mesmerize the audience with a showcase of his biggest hits.

While the event celebrated established songwriters, it also provided a platform for emerging talent. Standout performances by Seren, Rachel Chinouriri, and Nia Smith showcased the next generation of songwriting excellence.

In addition to the captivating performances, the event featured an insightful interview with Jody Gerson, CEO of UMPG, conducted by Al Webber. Gerson shared her invaluable perspective on music publishing and its importance for achieving success as a songwriter, emphasizing the incredible nature of the event and expressing why she is passionate about her career.

The Other Songs Live event was made possible with the support of sponsors such as The BPI, WME, Tysers Insurance and Risk Management Solutions, Warner Chappell Music, ATM, MPA, UMPG, and ASCAP. Their contribution helped make the evening a resounding success and furthered the cause of nurturing young songwriters and artists.
