The 40 copies of the UNICEF Blue Vinyl Edition of Sweet Dreams have started arriving with lucky raffle winners in the UK

The UNICEF Blue Vinyl campaign for 2022 included a highly limited edition pressing of just 48 copies of the Eurythmics album Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) being on a UNICEF Blue vinyl.  Other artists involved in the campaign included Carole King, The Foo Fighters, Prince, Little Mix & Bob Dylan.

The Blue Vinyl campaign is a special re-release of 10 vinyl albums, pressed in UNICEF’s signature cyan blue. Blue Vinyl is raising money for UNICEF UK’s Children’s Emergency Fund for children affected by conflict and disaster.

The 48 limited edition blue vinyl copies of each of the 10 albums signal UNICEF’s ability to respond to an emergency affecting children wherever they are, whenever crisis hits, within 48 hours.

Each vinyl is individually numbered from 1 to 48 and adorned with a numbered holographic UNICEF edition sticker on the front.

The campaign was run as a raffle in the UK with tickets costing just £5 an entry.  The Eurythmics album raised £3295 with 277 supporters purchasing almost 700 tickets.

Only 40 of the 48 records are actually raffled, a number are kept back for auctions of one of each of the 10 titles, along with artist copies.

An interesting note is for the first time the Hipgnosis logo appears on the record label, Hipgnosis now own Dave Stewart’s share of the song rights to Eurythmics songs. The album is also issued with a new catalogue number of 19439907301 while the rear of the sleeve is blanked out where the barcode would be and the edition number is printed.

This is going to be an interesting one to watch with values, I am sure we will see 1 or 2 copies make their way to eBay, but my bet is that you will be looking at at least £500 for a copy.
