October sees the release of 2 new books by photographers that have captured Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart.
1st up, released on the 1st October is Eye-D: Portraits by Anna Gabriel which is an intriguing photographic exploration of the human eye and features Annie Lennox as one of her subjects. Other “eyes” in the book are from David Byrne, Helena Christensen, Willem Dafoe, The Edge, Noel Gallagher, Susan Sarandon and Peter Gabriel.
Eyes are our windows out to the world, and the windows into our souls. Each eye is the chronicle of a life. Iris colors change with the years, and lines and lashes reveal our stories to those who can read them. EyeD is a series of extreme close-up photographs that focuses the man-made lens on the human one, and concentrates on what makes us each unique. Each subject is an icon we know, but the photographs depict an entirely new truth that readers have never before seen.
Looking into someone’s eyes for a prolonged period can simultaneously unnerve and bring closeness. Oxytocin is released and the personal boundaries we maintain are challenged. Connections, emotions, sublanguage, healing–all flow between us via the eyes.
The book and exhibition of Eye-D will be coming out in October 2022
The second book which is out on 31st October is SNAP! Music Photography Vol. 2 by photographer Neil MacKenzie Matthews and features a photograph of Eurythmics as its main cover.
Having started out shooting Spandau Ballet in the early Eighties, Neil’s numerous commissions from record companies and the music press saw him work with most of the headline acts of the Eighties and Nineties includingFrankie Goes To Hollywood, INXS, Madness, Malcolm McLaren, Julien Lennon, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, TLC, Boyzone and Jon Bon Jovi.
