Dave Stewart releases the title track “Ebony McQueen” from his new album today. Are you ready for a visit from the voodoo blues queen? All is revealed in the new video!

Dave Stewart has today released his new single, Ebony McQueen, the title track from his new album coming soon of the same name.  Ebony McQueen is Dave’s story as a teenager growing up in Sunderland who is visited by a living, breathing voodoo blues queen, starting his journey in music through his discovery of blues music.

Dave told The Sunderland Echo earlier this week “Ebony McQueen’ is the name of a fictional voodoo blues queen, a living embodiment of the blues music that inspired my entire career. She is basically my entry point into music and the title track is the entry point to this story.”

The single and album has been written and produced by Dave, and the album was recorded at studios including Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studio and his own Bay Street Recording Studio in the Caribbean, with contributions from an array of top vocalists, session players, the 60-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra and a guest appearance by Ringo Starr.

The album released soon, is spread across 3 LP’s, 2 7″ singles in metallic sleeves, 2 cassettes featuring alternative versions and acoustic versions of the songs and a book containing the lyrics and photos from Dave’s career, the recording of the album and memories of Sunderland. There is also an incredible download package available for purchasers of the box set including a real insight into how the songs have developed, and notes from within the recording studio.

Artworks featured in the project include specially-commissioned pieces by Sunderland artist Kathryn Robertson and features a host of Wearside landmarks including Roker Pier and the city skyline with its distinctive cranes.
