Eurythmics have been announced as nominees for Induction into the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

It was announced earlier this week that Eurythmics are up for nomination in the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside several other British acts including Kate Bush and Duran Duran.

The British band have been on the radar of the nominating committee since 2018, when they received their first nomination and saw Sony reissue all of their albums on remastered vinyl.

The Fan Vote is now open, and although only counts towards one vote of the 1000 or so cast by members and industry experts, it is a strong indication to them who the fans believe should be inducted.

Annie Lennox spoke to Billboard magazine and said:
“Dave and I have a long history. We’ve pretty much done everything it takes to survive in the industry of music, just like all the artists who’ve been nominated for the Hall of Fame,” she explains in a statement. “We each have our individual pathway and our own unique life stories, through music making, recording and performance. 

We were both passionate about being creative above anything else,” she says of the Rock Hall nom. “It’s lovely to be nominated and to be seen as a contributor to the ever-changing cultural zeitgeist. Thanks must go to everyone we ever worked with and all the peeps who have loved our music, without whom ….”

The winners will be announced in May with an award ceremony scheduled for some time in the Autumn.
