Annie Lennox talks to Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 where she talks about the release of Dido’s Lament and why it’s been added to the A Christmas Cornucopia 10th Anniversary release
Annie Lennox joined Jo Whiley live on her BBC Radio 2 show to premier Dido's Lament from the 10th Anniversary edition of A Christmas Cornucopia.
Annie and Jo had a good chat about how the record came to be on the new edition, Annie revealed that it had been recorded 10 years ago, but it didn't quite fit the album. Mike Stevens, Annie's musical director, discovered the track when clearing through his archives during lockdown and sent it to Annie. It coincided with Island Records and Annie having discusions about releasing a 10th Anniversary edition of Cornucopia and it seemed the right time for the song to be added to the compilation.
Amongst other things, they spoke about how music can connect people, and how spiritual music can be, and how it can help to lift people from a bad mood or a negative place.
Part of the show asks the guest to select 3 peices of music, one that makes you smile, one that makes you dance, and one that makes you cry.
Annies 3 choices were :
Pharell WIlliams - Happy
Chubby Checker - The Twist
Prince - Sometimes It Snows In April
