Annie Lennox Under The Bridge

Under the Bridge, Chelsea Football Club’s unique music venue at Stamford Bridge, is celebrating after securing two wins at the 2014 National Loo of the Year Awards, scooping both the Market Sector Award in the Entertainment category and the National Award for best Nightclub within the Hospitality category.

Honouring the highest possible standards in public lavatories, judges at the Loo of the Year awards rate each venue – across sectors including hospitality, retail, leisure, heritage, sport and education – on its quality and features such as décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, security and added enhancements, during an unannounced inspection.

Promoted in conjunction with the Attendant of the Year awards and cited as the ‘Nation’s Favourite Competition’, the Loo of the Year awards is now in its 27th year, securing a record number of entries.

Under The Bridge is a high-spec event space with integrated state-of-the-art technology and audio-visual equipment as well as unique design features that secure its place as a popular venue for music gigs, private parties and corporate events in central London.  The overall design scheme plays homage to the UK’s rock and roll history through a display of rare photography capturing the iconic music legends of the old and new rock eras, with stars such as Annie Lennox, John Lennon, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix adorning the walls in dramatic black and white prints and handmade mosaic murals.  The glamourous décor and music theme extends into the spacious bathrooms and toilet cubicles with more iconic idol prints, huge mirrors, mini chandeliers and stylish sinks with luxury Molten Brown toiletries, all set against a rich charcoal and cream palate.

Simon Hunter, Head of Venue & Brand at Chelsea FC, comments: “I am delighted to see Under The Bridge recognised in the Loo of the Year awards for its commitment to the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance and quality.  The venue itself has a unique design scheme that provides the perfect backdrop for a full range of music-inspired events and celebrations, and our guests appreciate the attention to detail given to all areas of the venue’s make up, including the loos!”

The awards ceremony was held at the St John’s Hotel in Solihull on Friday 5 December 2014.
