Who can believe that Touch, the third Eurythmics album has reached it’s 30th anniversary if it’s release in the UK.
The Ultimate Eurythmics advent calendar will be celebrating the album throughout December in our 2013 Advent Calendar.
Released on 26 November 1983. The album was Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox’s first UK number-one album, and it also reached the top 10 in the US. It has since been certified Platinum in the US and Silver in the UK. It was rated No. 500 on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2012, the album jumped to #492 on a revised list.
The icon cover artwork is perhaps one of the most recognisable pictures ever taken of Annie Lennox. Peter Ashworth took the photo and will talk about the session in our advent calendar.
The album scored 3 UK top 10 hits, Who’s That Girl? (3) Right By Your Side (10) and Here Comes The Rain Again (8) and were accompanied by 3 wildly different videos that featured celebrities, cameos, and stark Scottish islands. The album evokes so many memories for fans, and we hope to share some of these with you in the next few weeks.
Happy Birthday Touch!
