Ghost the Musical is set to continue its worldwide success by opening on its third continent in 3 years with the announcement that the show is set to open at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne in August 2013.

The musical’s composer and lyricist Dave Stewart, of pop duo the Eurythmics, was in Melbourne for today’s announcement, where he performed a number from the musical with singer Amy Keys.  He said only one song from the movie – the iconic Unchained Melody – was in the musical adaptation.

Stewart said the director, Tony Award winning Matthew Warchus, was a “master of creating emotional rollercoaster-type plays. Most people are in tears at the end, but it really makes you think,” he said. “The whole musical, really, is about being present, because you have no idea what’s going to happen when you step out of the building.”

Casting is set to take place in late 2012.
