Ghost the Musical the stunning new version of the 1990 Oscar winning movie has followed in the footsteps of Spiderman and The Book of Mormon on Broadway by releasing their forthcoming original cast recording exclusively online to their Facebook followers for a limited time to an astounding response.  In the first 12 hours online it gained an amazing 28,800 separate song plays which equates to 2,000 per hour or 40 plays per minute. The cast album is currently number 1 in the UK pre sale chart with a week to go before release, an accolade only ever matched by the original Phantom of the Opera Cast Recording.  It currently has over 90,500 song plays to date.

Ghost the Musical is based on the 1990 Oscar winning movie written by Bruce Joel Rubin and starred Patrick Swayze (Sam), Demi Moore (Molly) and Whoopi Goldberg (Oda Mae Brown) and tells the story of 2 lovers who on the eve of their engagement get torn apart when a street robbery ends up with Sam being shot.  Not ready to pass over to the other side straight away Sam finds that he can communicate with Molly through a fake store front psychic Oda Mae and after finding out the truth behind his murder sets out to warn Molly of the immortal danger she finds herself in.

The new West End show in London, adapted for the stage by the original writer Bruce Joel Rubin with music and lyrics by Dave Stewart and Glenn Ballard stars Richard Fleeshman as Sam, Caissie Levy as Molly and Sharon D Clarke as Oda Mae Brown.  The show which had a 7 week ‘out of town’ try out in Manchester earlier this year received universal 5 star reviews as the power of the original film met the power of 21st staging techniques and illusion some of which have never been seen on the professional stage before.

Ghost officially opens at the Piccadilly theatre, London with a star studded premiere this Tuesday 19th July and is currently booking until the 28th January 2012.
