This weeks record of the week is a very rare Dutch promotional CD for Shining Light.  What makes this disc unique is the ISRC Number that is printed on the disc itself.  The use of ISRC Codes (International Standard Recording Codes) by musicians and record companies is a very popular way of ensuring that any radio plays that a CD track may receive is automatically logged by the broadcaster ensuring that royalties that may be due to the composer for public performance are registered with the Performing Rights Society (PRS) .

It also ensures royalties due to performers on that recording are also logged so that royalty payments can be may be made to those performers by Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) The codes are embedded as data into your CD single or album and are automatically read by the broadcasters’ computer system when the CD is played.

We’re not sure how many of these CD’s would have been pressed, but we don’t believe it to be more than a couple of hundred.  Current values range from £15 – £30 depending on condition. Click on the images to see the full sized versions.
